Capricorn 2004

Capricorn, the Goat; December 22 - January 19

When I was a Freshman in college (back in 2001), I was on this kick of drawing series of pictures. Although I easily had two dozen lists of things to draw, most of which were Tarot sets from various animes and games, I only finished three of them, and by "finished" I only mean getting to the inking stage. Even though I wanted to draw all these series, some of my best stuff comes out of sporatic sketches, usually started in school, and so it was futile to make myself draw all of them. Two of these sets were the Chinese and Astrological Zodiac, and for the longest time, I've been meaning to redo them. For the time being, I'm focusing on the Astrological Zodiac.

I don't know how many times I redrew Capricorn, but I do know this; I was NEVER happy with how she came out. Her actual design was alright, that's been unchanged, but the pose was always kind of...blech. So instead of redrawing her in a similar pose for the upteenth time, I changed the pose completely. Keep in mind, this was done completely free-hand, seeing that I didn't feel like looking for a referance, so if she looks a little off, that's why.

All in all, I'm kind of happy with this version.

For you major Astrology buffs out there, sorry I got the Zodiac signs out of order. I know the cycle starts with Aries, but for whatever reason, I start with Capricorn. Don't berate me for it.
